Herman Husman (Hussmann) was born in Germany in June 1838. His wife Mary Catherine was born there also in March 1825. The couple were married there about 1853 and their eldest daughter Sophia was born there about 1854. They were living in Hanover when they departed from the port of Bremerhaven, arriving at the port of New York on April 25, 1859. the couple farmed in the Town of Osborn, Outagamie, Wisconsin. At least six children were born in Wisconsin: Henrietta; August; John L.; Minnie; Frederick; and Cora May. Herman died about 1915 and in 1920, Mary was living with her son Frederick and his family on the farm, age 95.
