|Notes||View of the earthenwork fortifications and main gate at Yorktown, Virginia. Several soldiers and an officer on horseback can be seen near the gate, and the colonial houses of the city can be seen behind the wall. Yorktown was placed under siege from April 5-18, 1862 at the begining of the Penninsua Campaign. This photograph would have been taken shortly after its capture by Federal troops.|
