Notes Candid outdoor view of Corporal Dale Stark. He is standing by a stack of crates with squad tents in the background. The two unidentifed soldiers in P1995.22.51 are sitting and leaning on the crates at left. Probably taken in the summer of 1953, since he is wearing an undershirt, although the print was made in January 1954.
Dale Stark was born on December 29, 1927 in the Town of Algoma the son of Friederich Wilhelm and Hulda Christine Gall Stark. After graduating from Oshkosh High School he enlisted in the US Army and served as a corporal in a supply company of the 5th Regimental Combat Team, 3rd Division in Korea from late 1952 until discharged in early 1954. After the war he worked for the US Post Office in Oshkosh. He was married to Barbara Husman on March 30, 1954 and the couple had three children: Joseph; Ann; and Michael. He went back into the Army on October 15, 1961 and was discharged August 10, 1962. Barbara died in Oshkosh on December 22, 1986 and Dale died on January 4, 1993.
