Victor B. Adams was born in South Hero, Vermont on January 8, 1808 the son of Benjamin and Susan Snell Adams. He married Jane Ann Kent on January 8, 1833 at South Hero. The couple had seven known children: George B.; Charles P.; Eliza; Henry C.; H. Augusta, Victor B., Jr.; and Jennie D., the only child born in Oshkosh. They migrated west in 1855 and settled in Oshkosh. They built the Adams House Hotel and managed it until it was destroyed by fire in 1875. He died in Oshkosh on April 22, 1879.
