Notes Two photograph albums containing snapshots taken by Sophia "Phio" Witzel Sterling. Sophia "Phio" Witzel Sterling was the daughter of Clara Witzel Sterling and Jerome Lee Sterling. She was born in Oshkosh circa 1890. She attended college and became a Home Economics teacher in the Oshkosh School system. She lived at home with her mother and maiden aunt, Agnes Witzel Sterling, and never married. She taught for 44 years. She was an accomplished seamstress and made many costumes for the Madrigal Singers. Most of the photographs are of domestic life, travels in the west, college friends and activities, family members such as Agnes Witzel Sterling, Horace Mark Witzel, William W. Witzel, and many others.
