Notes Candid outdoor view of unidentified Sawyer/Chase family members walking out onto a dock in a lake with their backs to the camera. Both women are wearing mutton sleeve blouses and dark skirts. They may be Nia Sawyer Chase (right) and Carolyn Upham Sawyer (left). A girl, possibly Jewell Chase Meredith, walks between them and the trouser leg of a man can be seen in front of the three. Probably taken at "Waldwic" on Lake Butte des Morts. Nia Sawyer was born on July 18, 1865 in Fond du Lac, WI. She was the daughter of Edgar P. and Mary Jewell Sawyer. She attended Oshkosh schools and the Oshkosh Normal School. She married Charles Curry Chase June 2, 1886. She was active in her father's companies; the Sawyer Company, Wisconsin Delaware Company and Sawyer Cattle Company in Texas. She had three daughters that survived; Jewell Chase Meredith; Elanor Chase Fatio and Charlotte Chase Fenton. She lived her last year in Palm Beach, Florida and died at the family's summer home on Lake Butte de Morte "Waldwic".
