Arthur Hyatt Allen was born in Janesville, Wisconsin, November 7, 1856. He married Alice Maude Williams in Oshkosh on December 15, 1886 and they had two sons, Addison Allen and Richard Allen. Mr. Allen worked for the Western Union Telegraph Co. his entire life. He started at the company in 1872 as a messenger boy and at Oshkosh in 1881. He retired in 1929 as manager. He died in Oshkosh July 2, 1936.
