Caroline Lucy Upham was born Dec. 30, 1874. She was the daughter of Governor William Upham. She married Philetus Horace "Phil" Sawyer on November 12, 1896. They had a daughter Kathryn on October 3, 1899. Caroline filed for divorce in 1905, but they either remarried or never finalized the divorce and had two more children: Philetus H. Sawyer, Jr., born in Oshkosh on April 7, 1907 and Edgar P. "Ted" Sawyer, born July 17, 1918. She died in Palm Beach, FL January 25, 1941.
