Charles is known to have had at least two children: Edith and Charles, Jr. Charles William Bruehl was born in Milwaukee in March 1869, the eldest son of John and Mary Frank Bruehl. He grew up on the family farm in Calumet County, Wisconsin and on July 4, 1891, married Bertha Kipp in Outagamie County. The couple moved to Minneapolis and had three children: Hazel; Edith; and Charles Jr. He was the only one of nine children to marry and have children. He worked as a machinist. His wife Bertha died about 1903 and he remarried a woman named Flora. Following her death, he lived with his daughter Hazel bruehl Hoover and her family. He died in Minneapolis on June 22, 1928.
