Rudolph Schroeder was born in Austria on December 17, 1884, the son of Maria and Michael Schroeder. The family immigrated to the United States in 1900 and settled in Oshkosh, Wisconsin. Rudolph married Marie Andrashko in Oshkosh on October 28, 1907. Marie Andrashko was born in Austria on July 2, 1884, the daughter of Wenzel and Maria Andrashko. Her family immigrated to the United States in 1897 and settled in St. Paul, Minnesota. Rudolph and Marie had eight children together: Rose, born in 1912; Anna, born 1914; Mary born 1915; Michael A., born 1917; Rudolph, Jr., born about 1917; Henry S., born 1918; Carl, born 1920; and Cecelia, born 1926. Rudolph worked in factories until in 1921 when he joined the Oshkosh Fire Department. In 1941 he was promoted to Lieutenant and in 1943 to Captain. He retired in 1946. He died in Oshkosh on October 25, 1959. His wife Marie died January 28, 1969.
