View of four unidentified girls, possibly sisters, from Norway. The girl at lower left also appears in P2008.48.2. This is either a family member or friend of either Peter S. Tufta or his wife Elizabeth. From Elizabeth Tufta's photograph album.
Peter S. Tufta was born in Tromslo, Troms, Norway in May 1859. He immigrated to the United States in 1881 and settled in Stevens Point, Wisconsin. He married his wife Elizabeth about 1883. Elizabeth Tufta was born in Norway in April 1862. The couple had at least three children together: Sivirt, born March 1884; Mary, born January 1887; and Anders (Andrew), born June 23, 1890. The family moved to nearby Eau Pleine prior to 1905. Daughter Mary moved to Fond du Lac and married James Ralfe Foster. They had one son, James D. Foster.
