Carl Friederich (Charles F.) Abraham was born in Prussia on September 21, 1861, the son of August Abraham. He served in the Prussian Army prior to immigrating to Oshkosh, WI in 1883. He married Clara O. Timm on February 19, 1885. The couple had at least five surviving sons: Arthur A. Abraham, born December 6, 1885; Carl B., born January 14, 1888; Raymond L., born January 28, 1890; Walter W., February 11, 1893; and Harvey R., January 15, 1895. He worked as a tailor for Eckstein's until he opened his own shop on Waugoo in 1889. By 1891 he moved his shop to 92 Main Street. After 1905 his shop is listed on Ceape Avenue and later on High Street. He retired in 1940 and died in Oshkosh in 1948. |
