Henry Bailey enlisted from Oshkosh in Company C, 53 Wisconsin Volunteer Infantry in March 1865. He was promoted to Captain on April 12, 1865. His company was consolidated with Company K, 51 Wisconsin Infantry in June 1865 at Ft. Levenworth, Kansas and he assumed command. The company mustered out in June and July 1865. Henry was a lawyer in Oshkosh for many years. His home burned down in the Oshkosh Fire April 28, 1875. His wife's name was Sarah T. Eastman (daughter of Edward Eastman), married October 19, 1870. He died June 13, 1891. The couple had one daughter, Jennie M. Bailey. Active: 1863 - 1892 |
