Charles F. Bauer Jr. (1880-1954) Charles F. Bauer, was born in Oshkosh on August 21, 1880, to Charles F. & Josephine Bauer. He was a musician and composer of music for many years. Charles was a member of the Arion Band and the Arion Orchestra, being its leader for 32 years until it disbanded in 1923. He also was the director of the Grand Opera House for 30 years. He and his brother Arthur were published song writers, they sold the rights to "Dream Heaven Waltz" to Charles Evans of New York for $15,000, in 1903. Other titles included; Midnight Dream Waltz, Lucy Ann, Dolly Giggle and Three Strikes. Arthur went on to ply in Sousa Band as a trombonist. Arthur died of typhoid fever in1902, at Atlantic City, New Jersey, while preparing to tour with Sousa. Mr. Bauer studied music at Royal Conservatory of Music, Leipzig, Germany. In later years he associated with the Bauer Luggage Co. until a year before his death. Charles married Maude M. Lawson, May 31, 1903. The couple had three sons; Lawson A. Bauer and Charles F.
