Harry Graham Gould 1873-1935 Harry was the VP of Gould Manufacturing His father, James P. Gould, started the firm in 1869 as Gould, Hume & Co. The firm consisted of James, William Hume and the Buckstaff Brothers: George, James, John Sr., John Jr. and Robert. The firm was taken over by Gould in 1875. In 1879 along with George Badger they operated a sawmill under the name Badger & Gould (George died in 1885). The mill then became part of James P. Gould & Co. in 1885. They manufactured doors, window sash, moldings & finished lumber. The name was change to Gould Manufacturing about 1891. They started making some wooden toys about 1917 and by 1930, Gould Co. switched to the manufacturing of toys only. The firm filed for bankruptcy on 4,17,1933. The Gould's were half owners of the Buckeye Lumber Co. in Hock Spur (later change to Buckeye, Washington), whose interest he sold as well as their land and timber holdings there 1903. He was the son James P. Gould & Emma J. Graham Gould. Harry was born in Wisconsin in May of 1873. He married Ellen Amelia Stevens, of Neenah, on December 13,1894. Ellen was born on November 13,1872. She died July 10, 1938, in Oshkosh. They had four children: Steven Gould, Madison, Mrs. Ellen Gould Weist, New York, James P. Gould, Milwaukee, and Schulyer Gould, Milwaukee. |
