Mary Elanor Jewell was born in Canaan, NY on July 3, 1842. Daughter of Henry Chapin Jewell; wealthy Oshkosh lumberman, Mayor of Oshkosh, and state congressman who came to Oshkosh in 1852. She married Edgar Philetus Sawyer on October 18, 1864. They had two children; Maria Melvina "Nia" Sawyer Chase and Philetus "Phil" Horace Sawyer. She died november, 1910. Active: 1864 - 1910 |
