Emma Marie Sawyer was the oldest daughter of Senator Philetus Sawyer. Born in Oshkosh on March 24, 1855. She was educated in Washington D.C. and attended Vassar. She married Howard G. White September 25, 1879 and moved with him to Syracuse, New York. Their one child, Sawyer Rich White died before he was 2 years old. Following her mother's death in 1888, she functioned as hostess for her father in Washington. She died there at her father's home from neuralgia of the heart complicated by malaria on October 10, 1896 at the age of 41. Active: 1873 - 1896 |
