US Navy Officer's garrison Cap: black wool; leather sweatband; stamped inside leather band with anchor center "TOP SIDER/TOPS IN NAVAL CAPS/GEMSCO INC, NEW YORK". Nile W. Roeder was born in Oshkosh, WI on November 11, 1917. He served in the United States Navy during World War II and served on a destroyer doing convoy and antisubmarine duty. He rose to the rank of Lieutenant Commander. He married Lois R. Mathwig on October 5, 1946. He graduated from the University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh, and worked at the Continental Clothing Company for 43 years. He died in Oshkosh, WI in June 1979. |
