Description |
Wedding gown, underdress, and veil. White nylon, synthetic gown, white, bodice with v-yoke trimmed with lace, rolled neckline, 9 back covered buttons, left side zipper, long sleeves with 3 covered buttons, elongated waistline with v-front, full attached skirt with 24 inch train, skirt two scalloped edged sections sewn together, bottom skirt loops for holding up while walking or dancing. Underdress: white nylon with white abstract floral print, strapless, left side zipper. Veil: white, headband covered with plastic white flowers, net veil, round shape with edges trimmed with lace. Donor: Gown fashioned from parachute that saved Clifford Britton's life during World War II. He was a copilot on a B-17 that was part of the 8th Air Force out of England and used the chute in 1945 to bail out of his damaged plane. Clifford Britton of Neenah married Edith Breese on June 21, 1947 in Randolph, Wisconsin. The gown was created by the groom's sister Clara.
