Description |
Five individual army dog tags of the World War II era; one tag is a Type 2 style issued from Nov. 1941 to July 1943; stamped steel with the following information, "First, Middle Initial, Last Name"; "Army Serial Number, Tetanus, Tetanus Toxoid and Blood Type"; "Next of Kin"; "Address of Next of Kin"; "City, Stte and Religion"; next are 2 Type 3 style issued from July 1943 to March 1944; this style is also steel with the following information "First, Middle Initial, Last Name"; "Army Serial Number, Blood Type"; "Religion"; lastly are two red dog tags which are red laquer over steel; the information on these is similar to that included on the type 2 identified above; the use of Red dog tags are used in the same manner as regular ones, but are essential when soldiers have been injured in battle and need to be treated by a medical team and the red tags alert the medics to a special medical condition that the individual has and could impact the treatment or medication administered; each of these 5 dog tags has a hole at one end where a chain would be passed through to allow wear around the soldier's neck. |
