Description |
American flag: silk construction; blue canton with 48 white five-pointed stars; alternating red and white horizontal stripes. Original catalog card: "This flag was used to cover the casket of Private Vernon Brabazon, who was killed in France." Vernon E. Brabazon was born in Gladstone, MI May 18, 1893, the son of Elbert William and Margaret Brabazon. He came to Oshkosh with his family in 1910. He enlisted in Company B, 2nd Wisconsin National Guard in 1916 and saw service on the Mexican Border. Old Company B became Company B, 127th Infantry, 32nd Division in 1917. He was killed in battle August 1, 1918 at Bellvue Farm near Sergy, France. His remains were returned to Oshkosh in 1921. |
