A. Martin and Frank H. Mondl began Mondl Brothers Shoe Repair in 1918 in a shop at 142 Main Street. They began manufacturing slippers and fleece lined helmets and incorporated as the Giblin-Mondl Manufacturing Company in 1924, while still maintaining the shoe repair shop at the same location. In 1927 they moved the manufactuirng to Otter Avenue and became Mondl Manufacturing Company. They made play shoes, stadium boots, and flight helmets during World War II. |
